About Emu Eggs

The eggs you will see on the following pages are all real hand carved emu eggs. There is no artificial color on any of them. The colors you see are the natural colors of the eggshell itself. Like a dissolving piece of jawbreaker candy, there are 3 or 4 distinct layers of color in an emu egg. Artist Timothy Oliver creates his pieces by carving and grinding away shell, exposing the different layers of color underneath.

These eggs and the birds that lay them are very unique. They are the perfect gift for the person "who has everything" and makes a great conversation piece. Any egg shown on this site can be reproduced or you can request a custom design of your very own.

In their natural state, emu eggs are quite thick and have a very hard outer layer. Because of this, they can be safely shipped by mail as long as they are packaged properly.
